A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a woman accused of embezzling more than £60,000 from the Dundee noodle bar she managed.
Jade Gibson had failed to turn up during 17 callings of her case and Sheriff Richard MacFarlane finally ran out of patience and issued a warrant at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Gibson’s case first called on March 24, last year and was put off on that occasion for Covid-related reasons.
She did not appear when the case called again in May, August, October and November last year.
When she did not make a scheduled appearance on March 23 – a full year since her initial calling – the court was informed she was unable to attend because she was self-isolating.
She was said to still be isolating on April 6.
On April 20, the case was continued for her personal appearance but by May 25 she was again said to be in Covid-related isolation.
The case called – again without Gibson present – on June 15, 22 and 29 and on July 20.
By the time the case called on July 27, Gibson was said to be back in isolation and she again failed to turn up on August 3.
The 29-year-old is alleged to have embezzled more than £60,000 from a branch of fast food chain Dr Noodles.
Gibson is alleged to have taken the money from the Dundee branch of the chain between May 3, 2016 and February 14, 2018.
She is alleged to have embezzled £62,363.85 from Dr Noodles in the city’s Nethergate while she was employed as its manager.
Gibson, of Shetland Place, Kirkcaldy, denies the charge.
