A section of pavement in Dundee has been cordoned off after part of the roof at the old Dens Road Market collapsed.
Fencing has been put up around the abandoned building, which sits on the corner of Dens Road and Arklay Street.
The cordon was put up by Dundee City Council just before Christmas.
It has not been confirmed what caused the collapse.
A spokesperson for the local authority said: “We received reports of a partial roof collapse at the former Dens Road Market building and in the interests of public safety arranged temporary barriers to be put up.
“Investigations are going on to establish ownership of the building so that the danger can be permanently removed.”
Lynne Short, a councillor for the area, says there are concerns about people accessing the site.
She told The Courier: “I’ve seen quite a lot recently about people going in and exploring buildings that are abandoned.
“Obviously we had the situation with Robertson’s as well.
“We need to be very careful with these types of older buildings because the situation can very quickly change.
“At the end of the day, the fencing is there for a reason.”
Bowling alley plans in former Dens Road Market
A market was started in the building in 1969 and it came to be known as “Dundee’s Petticoat Lane” – a reference to the famous market in the East End of London.
It boasted 80 stalls at its height.
However, the market closed in 2013 when the owners went into administration.
It later became the subject of plans by businessman Chris Airlie for a leisure centre, including 10-pin bowling alley.
He was given permission for the proposed £1.5 million redevelopment in 2017.
However, no major work has taken place on the site since, with several areas of the building now in a state of disrepair.
The Courier has contacted Mr Airlie for comment.
