A woman has spoken of her delight at finding her wedding ring after it went missing over a week ago while shopping in Dundee city centre.
Montrose resident Penny Scoular was visiting the Overgate Shopping Centre to have her ring re-sized on Sunday December 10 when the piece of jewellery fell out of her purse.
A panicked search of the centre by her and her husband Marc was to no avail so the couple posted an online appeal for help in finding the diamond-encrusted ring, which was shared over 600 times.
The Courier also put out an appeal in the hope of finding it.
Incredibly, the ring was found on Monday when it fell out of a roll of Christmas paper after a customer picked it up in the Overgate’s Clinton Cards.
Care assistant Penny spoke of her delight after hearing the news from the shop’s manager.
The 30-year-old said: “I received a message through Facebook from the manager at Clinton Cards to say she had good news — the ring had finally been found.
“It turns out although numerous staff had checked the rolls of paper and not located it, someone else had picked up a roll and my ring fell out of it.
“I was over the moon to receive the message. My husband was also delighted. Finally some good luck came our way.
“Ecstatic isn’t the word for my happiness.
“We picked up the ring from the manager on Tuesday with a big box of chocolates to say thank you.”
Penny and Marc were married in 2014 with plain rings, which they later swapped for more elaborate versions.
She was carrying the ring in her purse and was en-route to jewellery store Beaverbrooks to have it re-sized when it went missing.
She will now revisit the store on Sunday and says she will be taking much greater care of it in future to avoid any similar near-disasters.
She added: “It will be under lock and key until I get it re-sized and my husband will be in charge of carrying it to the shop.
