A Dundee man who butted a policeman and tried to assault a doctor during a hospital rampage has been jailed.
Grant Wales lost the plot during an incident at Ninewells Hospital. He first tried to shove Dr Matthew Casey before launching an attack on a police officer.
Wales turned and butted PC Gareth Jennings.
A sheriff told Wales he was guilty of “boorish violence”.
Wales, 23, of Riddell Terrace, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault on summary complaint.
The offences were committed on January 4 this year at Ninewells Hospital.
Defence solicitor Jim Caird said Wales had been on remand since his first appearance in court in January – and urged a sheriff to impose a non-custodial sentence.
But Sheriff Alastair Brown jailed Wales for six months.
He said: “People doing their job should not be subjected to your boorish violence.
“Nothing other than a custodial sentence will meet this case.
“The court must punish and express society’s disapproval.
“Those who commit offences in hospitals may expect no sympathy.”
