NHS Fife has ordered pupils at a Fife school to self-isolate after confirming a pupil had tested positive for Covid-19.

NHS Fife confirmed that an individual linked to Pitreavie Primary School in Dunfermline had tested positive and that the pupil was currently isolating at home with other household members.

As a precaution NHS Fife has requested that all children in orange, blue and yellow rooms are not to attend school on Tuesday, September 29 and should self-isolate until Wednesday, October 7 before returning to school and other activities on October 8.

The health board said there is no evidence to suggest any onward transmission within the school at this stage and the risk to pupils and staff appears to be low.

Earlier in the day, NHS Fife had confirmed that an individual linked to St Columba’s RC High School in Dunfermline had tested positive for COVID-19.

The positive case is currently isolating at home with other household members. Those who were in close contact with the confirmed case are being offered public health advice and being instructed to self-isolate for 14 days.

There is no evidence to suggest any onward transmission within the school at this stage and the risk to pupils and staff appears to be low.

It added that anyone who develops any of the established symptoms of the virus, such as a fever; or a loss or change in taste or smell; or a new and continuous cough, should arrange testing using the UK Government Citizens’ Portal at: https://www.nhs.uk/ask-for-a-coronavirus-test or by calling 0800 028 2816.

Furthermore, Fife Council has made a comprehensive list of questions and answers available for parents and carers at www.fife.gov.uk/schoolcovidfaqs.
