A 27-year-old man has been charged following a crash involving a car being chased by police in Fife.
Two elderly women were injured in the accident in Oakley on Sunday afternoon which saw their car hurled onto its roof in the impact.
They were taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment but have since been discharged.
Police confirmed they had signalled a silver Honda to stop and had followed it for a short distance before the crash with a blue Renault Scenic on Sir George Bruce Road at around 4pm.
The driver was also said to be hurt.
The full circumstances are still being investigated but MSP Claire Baker has called for a thorough investigation at a national level into the appropriateness of car chases.
A statement released by Police Scotland’s Fife Division on Monday said the 27-year-old man had been charged with various road traffic offences.
He is scheduled to appear before Dunfermline Sheriff Court on Thursday June 9.
The Fife crash came just three days after 33-year-old nurse Jill Pirrie died after being hit by a car being chased by police in Edinburgh.
That is being probed by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner.
