A Fife yoga teacher has embarked on an all-night outdoor meditation on the streets of London to support a worthwhile cause.

Scott Hutchison-McDade, from Dysart-based Positive Change Yoga, joined dozens of other peaceful demonstrators at Charing Cross on Saturday night for an 11-hour outdoor stint as part of Buddhist Action Month (BAM).

The sitting – organised by Zenways, a training school which promotes and encourages activities and practices to “enhance human wellbeing balance and awakening in the modern world” – was organised to help boost the coffers of the Rough Waking project’s crowdfunding campaign, which has been launched to improve the mental health of the UK’s most vulnerable.

Yoga teacher Scott, who is a former student of Zenways, said he hoped the charity all-nighter would help raise awareness of the plight of homeless people.

Cash raised from the crowdfunding campaign will help the Rough Waking project which, for the past five years, has been carried out in partnership with the St Giles Trust charity in London expand into other areas of the UK.

The project is also supported by a Rough Waking book, which relies on sponsors for its distribution into prisons, libraries and various other venues.

Scott has been involved in various charity events, including a Walk for Positive Change which will see members of the community walk the Fife Coastal Path from Dysart to North Queensferry on August 18.

The sponsored walk founded by Scott will raise money towards the renovation of Dysart Community Hall, as well as Muirhead Outreach Project, which supports vulnerable children.
