Dundee’s eastern expansion is continuing apace, with new 150 new homes proposed for Broughty Ferry.

Luxury house builder Kirkwood Homes has submitted plans for a major development, to be known as Balgillo Heights.

They have also signalled a long-term interest in contributing to new educational and community facilities that would benefit the east of the city in the future.

In conjunction with Linlathen Developments (Tayside) Ltd, the developer aims to create a mix of three-bedroom terraced and three, four and five-bedroom detached homes, built around “village greens”.

It hopes to begin offering the first homes for sale in early 2017, subject to planning approval from Dundee City Council.

Kirkwood Homes is also in discussion with Dundee City Council in respect of “long-term opportunities” for the area.

They could include the creation of educational and community facilities for the wider area.

Kirkwood Homes land director, Allan Rae said: “In the past six years we have developed a wider range of house types to suit anyone from a first-time buyer to a growing family and this has been reflected in our plans for this community.

“Broughty Ferry is a highly desirable location and over the last year we have worked closely with officers in Dundee City Council to ensure that our plans reflect their aspirations for the site in terms of design, layout and housing mix.

We have also taken into account and reflected in our plans submitted for the site aspects such as traffic, education and community facilities.”
