Bike involved in crash on Dundee’s Kingsway had been reported stolen

A motorbike involved in a crash on the Kingsway in Dundee had previously been reported stolen, police have said.

A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital after the two-vehicle collision near the Camperdown junction on Monday.

Part of the road was closed for a period while emergency services dealt with the incident.

It has since emerged that the motorbike involved had allegedly been stolen.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 4.55pm on Monday, officers were called to a report of a two-vehicle crash on the Kingsway, Dundee.

Police inquiries ongoing

“One lane of the road was closed to allow recovery but reopened soon afterwards.

“The 21-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

“The motorcycle had previously been reported stolen. Inquiries are ongoing.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 4.46pm on Monday to attend an incident on the A90.

“Two ambulances and a trauma team were dispatched to the scene and a patient was transported to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.”
