Motorists are being warned to expect delays on Glasgow Road in Perth later this month as eight days of roadworks get under way.
One of Perth’s busiest roads, contractors will begin £100,000 worth of resurfacing work starting September 28.
It is due to take place between Needless Road and Pitheavlis Crescent, with diversions and temporary traffic lights to be put in place throughout.
Resurfacing work
Bus services will also be affected, with a number of bus stops temporarily suspended.
A spokesperson for Perth and Kinross Council said: “Continuing with our programme of resurfacing Glasgow Road, we are now planning to undertake the remaining section between Needless Road and Pitheavlis Crescent.
“Starting on Wednesday September 28 it will take approximately eight working days to complete.
“We anticipate the works being finished by Friday October 7.”
Road closures
The council says a number of surrounding roads will close at the junction with Glasgow Road, with two-way temporary traffic lights put in place to manage traffic.
These include:
- Murray Place
- Murray Crescent
- Pitheavlis Crescent
They added: “By closing these junctions the works will be safer and quicker to carry out, in particular resurfacing across the junctions without vehicle movements.
“This should also allow us to allocate more green signal time for Glasgow Road traffic and hopefully reduce any delays.”
Bus stops suspended
Locals using bus stops in the area will be able to see signposted.
A spokesperson added: “Diversions will be signposted.
“Passengers are advised to use the next nearest available bus stop for their service as it will not be possible to safely place temporary stops within the works area.”
