The Scottish Conservative party has claimed victory in the Perth City South by-election.
Candidate Audrey Coates triumphed in an all female contest.
The turn-out was 43.1%.
Mrs Coates will join the SNP’s Bob Band and Sheila McCole and the Liberal Democrat’s Willie Wilson to represent the 14,000-population ward.
The vote was called following the sudden resignation of Tory councillor Michael Jamieson in September.
He stood down after his arrest for alleged child abuse images.
The new vote, announced just before midnight, means the Tories are back to 17 Perth and Kinross councillors.
The party leads a joint administration with four Liberal
Democrats and three independents.
There are 15 SNP councillors and one from Labour.
