A man has been taken to hospital with a serious injury following an incident in Kirriemuir.
There was a heavy police presence at Shielhill Road, around the Thrums takeaway.
Five police vehicles, including a riot van, were at the scene from lunchtime on Wednesday, along with an ambulance.
One police car remained at the scene in the evening.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of concern for a person within a flat on Shielhill Road, Kirriemuir, around 12.15pm on Wednesday May 20.
“We attended alongside the ambulance service.
“A 36-year-old man was taken to Ninewells Hospital with a serious injury.
“Nobody else was involved in the incident.”
