Burning furniture had to be thrown from a Dundee flat during a fire in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Fire crews from Kingsway and Macalpine Road were sent to reports of a blaze in a flat on Happyhillock Road at 6am.
Concerned neighbours reported smelling “burnt plastic” as firefighters arrived on the scene.
Firefighters used a hose reel jet on the blaze, which is understood to have started in the living room.
One woman living in the block said she was woken by a fire alarm and let firefighters into the building.
The 46-year-old said: “I could smell burnt plastic and I was bit concerned when I heard the smoke alarm going.
“No one was evacuated but there were three appliances in attendance and the officers went to one of the flats near the top of the close.”
‘Items thrown from window’
Another resident said items including cushions had been discarded from a flat.
She said: “The items were thrown from the flat and we’d heard it had started in our neighbour’s living room.
“It all appeared to be resolved fairly quickly but I’d imagine the occupant must have got a fright.”
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed crews were only on the scene for around 20 minutes.
She added: “Appliances from Kingsway and Macalpine Road were mobilised after reports of a fire at a dwelling.
“A hose reel jet and breathing apparatus was used at the scene.
“We received a stop message at 6.19am.”
