Racist graffiti was spray painted on the shop front.

Racist graffiti has been sprayed across a Broughty Ferry shop, leaving owners shocked and upset.

Track One Ltd on King Street, previously known as A&K Newsagents, has been covered in racial slurs, including phrases such as “F*** off home”.

Members of the Asian family who run the shop discovered the vandalism when they opened on Tuesday morning.

One of the family members said: “It’s very upsetting, that’s all we can really say about it.

“The graffiti kind of speaks for itself.

“It’s not something you ever expect to happen – nobody expects it to happen.

“We should be able to erase it. We’ve already gotten rid of a bit of it and we can erase anything if we try hard enough.

“We saw it this morning while we were opening up.”

Police are now investigating the incident.

Broughty Ferry councillor slams graffiti

Broughty Ferry councillor Craig Duncan has condemned the graffiti, saying: “I find it absolutely appalling.

“Whoever did this really needs to get their act together and take a look at themselves and what they’re doing with their lives.

“Thankfully, this kind of thing is very unusual for the area.

“Broughty Ferry is not a place plagued by graffiti, especially not racist graffiti.”

Councillor Craig Duncan.

The vandalism has been reported to Police Scotland and officers are now looking to trace those responsible.

A spokesperson said: “Around 5.50am on Tuesday officers received a report of racist graffiti having been spray-painted on a shopfront in King Street, Broughty Ferry.

“Inquiries are ongoing.”
