Trains were disrupted in Angus on Tuesday morning after an HGV struck a railway bridge.

The incident happened on the A92 at Inverkeilor, between Arbroath and Montrose.

Services were still able to run across the bridge but at a reduced speed.

The incident was reported just before 8am and had been cleared just after 10am.

ScotRail posted on X: “Disruption caused by a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Arbroath and Montrose has now ended.

“Services Aberdeen and Glasgow Queen Street/Edinburgh are no longer being affected.”

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “Around 7.10am on Tuesday, police received a report of a one-vehicle road crash on the A92 near Inverkeilor, Arbroath.

“There are no reports of any injuries.”

Separate incident closed railway between Dundee and Invergowrie

It comes after a separate incident on Monday night which closed the railway line between Dundee and Invergowrie.

ScotRail posted at 11.20pm to say services were being disrupted “due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway”.

Services were back on the move by 1am and the disruption had cleared by 6.30am on Tuesday.

British Transport Police has been contacted for comment.
