Three new restaurants and drive-thrus have been proposed for Broxden, almost doubling the facilities on offer at the busy services.
The area around Broxden Roundabout, connecting Perth to the M90 and A9, already hosts a McDonald’s, Travelodge, Harvester and a petrol station with a Subway restaurant inside.
There is also park and ride at the site, as well as a Costa drive-thru on the other side of the roundabout.
Now, new plans have been revealed which would add three café/restaurants at Broxden, each offering drive-thru, as well as extra business units.
Drysdale Holdings has submitted a pre-application notice to Perth and Kinross Council, but it is not yet known which businesses will move into the facilities.
Parking and electric vehicle charging points will also be included.
The proposal of application notice, which needs to be submitted before any major planning application, will go before the council’s planning committee on Wednesday.
Broxden services will be expanded
Two consultation events are to be held at the Lovat Hotel on Glasgow Road, with dates and times yet to be confirmed.
The first will be a consultation exhibition, allowing the public to view the plans and have their say on them.
The second will be a feedback event that would take place at least two weeks later.
Members of the project team will be there to answer questions and explain the
details of the development.
Previous plans
This is the fifth application for the site in five years.
In 2017 there were plans for development of a four hectare site for employment use.
The site has previously been allocated for mixed-use development.
In October 2020 plans were approved for land engineering operations and to build access roads.
Plans for land engineering works were also approved in August 2021.
Initial plans for the new facilities show they would include three café/restaurant units with drive-thru facilities, business units, electric vehicle charging hubs and parking.
